{"id":72903,"date":"2025-08-12T12:11:30","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T12:11:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72903"},"modified":"2025-08-12T12:11:30","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T12:11:30","slug":"obi-won-2023-election-says-ex-sgf-babachir-lawal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/12\/obi-won-2023-election-says-ex-sgf-babachir-lawal\/","title":{"rendered":"Obi Won 2023 Election, Says Ex-SGF Babachir Lawal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Merciful Omoba<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has claimed that the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was the actual winner of the election.<\/p>\n<p>Lawal made this disclosure during an interview on Channels Television\u2019s Politics Tonight on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that, based on the facts and data available to him, Obi won the election that officially declared Bola Tinubu as Nigeria\u2019s 16th president.<\/p>\n<p>The former SGF insisted that President Tinubu did not legitimately win, stressing that the results he monitored at the time indicated otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that some election results were altered.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about his personal issues with President Tinubu, Lawal described the president as \u201carrogant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is arrogant. The guy has an arrogance that defies definition. The problem with Bola Tinubu is that he thinks I offended him. I didn\u2019t offend him; he offended me.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He is full of himself and believes that, as the so-called president, he is untouchable.
