{"id":72888,"date":"2025-08-12T12:06:50","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T12:06:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72888"},"modified":"2025-08-12T12:06:50","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T12:06:50","slug":"ncaa-clarifies-ibom-air-assault-case-separate-from-kwam-1-incident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/12\/ncaa-clarifies-ibom-air-assault-case-separate-from-kwam-1-incident\/","title":{"rendered":"NCAA Clarifies: Ibom Air Assault Case Separate from Kwam 1 Incident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onilede Titi Faith<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has clarified that the assault case involving an unruly Ibom Air passenger is entirely separate from the incident involving Fuji musician Kwam 1 (Wasiu Ayinde Marshal).<\/p>\n<p>Michael Achimugu, NCAA\u2019s Director of Public Affairs, explained that while the Ibom Air passenger was arrested and charged in court by the airline, the NCAA had no prosecutorial involvement in that matter.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, in Kwam 1\u2019s case, where he allegedly defied cabin crew instructions and disrupted a ValueJet flight, the airline did not pursue legal action.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the NCAA intervened, referring the case to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police, since the agency itself lacks prosecutorial authority.<\/p>\n<p>Achimugu emphasized that NCAA typically steps back when airlines take action.<\/p>\n<p>In the Ibom Air case, the airline handled the matter entirely.
