{"id":72839,"date":"2025-08-12T11:46:41","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T11:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72839"},"modified":"2025-08-12T11:46:41","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T11:46:41","slug":"kwali-apc-chairmanship-aspirant-usman-jiya-defects-to-adc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/12\/kwali-apc-chairmanship-aspirant-usman-jiya-defects-to-adc\/","title":{"rendered":"Kwali APC Chairmanship Aspirant, Usman Jiya, Defects to ADC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samuel Adeola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chairmanship aspirant for Kwali Area Council in the FCT, Alhaji Usman Jiya, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), with thousands of his supporters ahead of the February 21, 2026 council polls.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a large crowd in Kwali on Saturday, Jiya said the decision followed a resolution by key APC stakeholders and ward executives across the council\u2019s ten wards.<\/p>\n<p>He faulted the APC primary that produced incumbent council speaker, Nuhu Daniel Kwali, describing it as a \u201ccharade.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He explained that with the APC national secretariat\u2019s endorsement of Nuhu Daniel as the party\u2019s candidate, he and his supporters had chosen to join the ADC, under which he will now contest the election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is on this premise that I want to make it clear today, being Saturday, August 9, 2025, that I, Hon.
