{"id":72797,"date":"2025-08-11T14:41:17","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T14:41:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72797"},"modified":"2025-08-11T14:41:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T14:41:17","slug":"ibom-air-bans-passenger-for-life-after-violent-mid-flight-disruption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/11\/ibom-air-bans-passenger-for-life-after-violent-mid-flight-disruption\/","title":{"rendered":"Ibom Air Bans Passenger for Life After Violent Mid-Flight Disruption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Njoku Chijioke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ibom Air has banned passenger Comfort Emmanson for life following a violent outburst on its Uyo-Lagos flight on Sunday, August 10, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The incident began shortly before takeoff when Emmanson refused repeated crew instructions to switch off her mobile phone.<\/p>\n<p>A fellow passenger eventually turned it off after the Pilot-in-Command intervened, prompting an angry verbal outburst from Emmanson.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival in Lagos, she waited for other passengers to disembark before attacking the Purser who had earlier instructed her.<\/p>\n<p>She stepped on the Purser, tore off her wig, removed her glasses, and struck her with her footwear.<\/p>\n<p>She also slapped another crew member who tried to intervene, then attempted to forcibly remove a fire extinguisher to use as a weapon; an act that could have damaged the aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Security personnel from Ibom Air and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), restrained her, but not before she also assaulted them, including the airline\u2019s ground supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>She was subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Ibom Air has reported the matter to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and stressed its zero-tolerance policy toward unruly conduct that endangers safety.<\/p>\n<p>The NCAA has reminded passengers of their duty to follow crew instructions, warning that disruptive behavior will attract severe consequences.<\/p>\n<p>The incident comes just days after Fuji music star Wasiu Ayinde (KWAM1), was banned from flying ValueJet following an altercation with airline staff at Abuja\u2019s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on August 5, 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Njoku Chijioke Ibom Air has banned passenger Comfort Emmanson for life following a violent outburst on its Uyo-Lagos flight on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
