{"id":72784,"date":"2025-08-11T10:31:23","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T10:31:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72784"},"modified":"2025-08-11T10:31:23","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T10:31:23","slug":"tetfund-unveils-%e2%82%a6100bn-medical-training-boost-for-nigerian-tertiary-institutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/11\/tetfund-unveils-%e2%82%a6100bn-medical-training-boost-for-nigerian-tertiary-institutions\/","title":{"rendered":"TETFUND Unveils \u20a6100bn Medical Training Boost for Nigerian Tertiary Institutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), has disbursed over \u20a6100 billion to selected tertiary institutions across Nigeria to expand medical sciences training and address the nation\u2019s critical shortage of healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>TETFUND Governing Board Chairman, Aminu Masari, announced the intervention on Saturday in Katsina, noting it aligns with President Bola Tinubu\u2019s directive to curb brain drain in the health sector.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Under the scheme, three institutions in each geopolitical zone, comprising universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, have received \u20a64 billion each to fund projects that will boost their capacity to train doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, and other medical professionals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis initiative will enhance healthcare delivery by significantly increasing the number of trained personnel in the system,\u201d Masari said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The \u20a6100 billion medical allocation forms part of TETFUND\u2019s record \u20a61.6 trillion revenue from the 3% education tax on company profits for 2025, the agency\u2019s highest collection to date.
