{"id":72586,"date":"2025-08-09T06:40:26","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T06:40:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72586"},"modified":"2025-08-09T06:40:26","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T06:40:26","slug":"fg-sacks-15-correctional-officers-demotes-59-for-misconduct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/09\/fg-sacks-15-correctional-officers-demotes-59-for-misconduct\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Sacks 15 Correctional Officers, Demotes 59 for Misconduct"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onilede Titi Faith<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government has dismissed 15 personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), for serious misconduct and demoted 59 others for breaching professional standards.<\/p>\n<p>The disciplinary actions followed the review of 224 cases by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).<\/p>\n<p>The Board\u2019s Disciplinary and General Purpose Committee (BDGPC), investigated the cases and submitted recommendations, which were approved by the Ministry of Interior.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, 42 personnel received written warnings, 16 were cleared of all allegations, seven were suspended pending further investigations, and eight were compulsorily retired.<\/p>\n<p>In one instance, the rank of an officer was reversed, and he was ordered to refund salaries earned under a mistaken promotion.<\/p>\n<p>Another officer was suspended and recommended for prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).<\/p>\n<p>Reaffirming the government\u2019s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and indiscipline, Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunde Ojo, said the ministry is committed to upholding discipline within the service.<\/p>\n<p>Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwacuhe, assured that all sanctions are administered fairly, transparently, and in line with regulations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onilede Titi Faith The Federal Government has dismissed 15 personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), for serious misconduct and demoted 59 others for breaching professional standards.
