Represented by the wife of the Kwara State Governor, Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq, Tinubu said the machines would be deployed nationwide, with priority to underserved communities, to ensure rapid diagnosis and treatment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTuberculosis is curable, but far too many Nigerians are still dying, not because there is no technology, but because access to diagnostic tools is limited. By God\u2019s grace, this is the gap we are working to close,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Health experts say TB remains one of Nigeria\u2019s deadliest infectious diseases, with over 100 new cases and at least seven deaths recorded daily despite free treatment being available. The newly commissioned solar-powered machines, such as the GeneXpert, can detect TB and drug resistance within two hours, enabling quicker intervention and breaking the chain of transmission.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu urged sustained domestic funding and collaboration among stakeholders, noting that ending TB requires human, financial, technical and political commitment.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, praised the First Lady as a TB champion, noting progress in integrating TB care into primary healthcare.
