{"id":72474,"date":"2025-08-07T12:14:36","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T12:14:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72474"},"modified":"2025-08-07T12:14:36","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T12:14:36","slug":"family-of-slain-retired-soldier-demands-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/07\/family-of-slain-retired-soldier-demands-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"Family of Slain Retired Soldier Demands Justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The family of 63-year-old Christopher Ogbodo, a retired soldier allegedly murdered while working as a night security guard at a petroleum station under construction, is demanding swift action from the Nigeria Police to bring his killers to justice.<\/p>\n<p>Ogbodo was reportedly killed on July 1, 2025, at a construction site along the Nsukka-Ugwogo Nike Road in Enugu State.<\/p>\n<p>His widow, Mrs. Ngozi Ogbodo, described the incident as a \u201ccold-blooded murder\u201d and voiced frustration over what she called the slow pace of the police investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to journalists in Enugu, Mrs. Ogbodo recounted her last phone conversation with her husband on the night he was killed, lamenting the lack of updates from investigators.<\/p>\n<p>She also appealed for the release of his body for burial while investigations continue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe police must treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves. A human life was lost, this cannot be swept under the carpet,\u201d she said tearfully. \u201cEven animals have owners. My husband was a father, a breadwinner. His killers must not go unpunished.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also criticized the management of the petrol station, noting that neither the owner nor the station manager has contacted the family or shown any support.<\/p>\n<p>She accused the station manager of withholding potentially vital information that could aid the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people who should be answering questions are still walking free.
