{"id":72394,"date":"2025-08-07T07:30:33","date_gmt":"2025-08-07T07:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72394"},"modified":"2025-08-07T07:30:33","modified_gmt":"2025-08-07T07:30:33","slug":"pdp-to-decide-wikes-fate-next-week-ogidi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/07\/pdp-to-decide-wikes-fate-next-week-ogidi\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP to Decide Wike\u2019s Fate Next Week -Ogidi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samuel Adeola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The South-South Zonal Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogidi, has revealed that the party\u2019s National Working Committee (NWC), will take a definitive stance next week regarding the conduct of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during a television interview, Ogidi said the party could no longer ignore Wike\u2019s actions, adding that the former Rivers State governor appears to be working against the interests of the PDP.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPDP is a big family, but I can tell you the NWC will take action on Wike next week,\u201d Ogidi stated. \u201cYou cannot serve two masters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The remarks come in response to Wike\u2019s recent television appearance, where he issued conditions for reconciliation with the PDP leadership.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He demanded official recognition of the South-South zonal congress conducted by his faction and the rejection of the South-East zonal congress that produced Ali Odefa and others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not over yet,\u201d Wike said. \u201cThere are still outstanding issues. One is the recognition of our South-South zonal congress. There are no two ways about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cDuring our congress in Calabar, the acting national chairman claimed PDP governors weren\u2019t in support. Where are those governors now? If they want another crisis, so be it. That congress must stand. Chief Dan Orbih emerged as National Vice Chairman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ogidi, however, accused Wike of promoting the agenda of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), despite previously contributing significantly to the PDP.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was very good before. He did a lot for the party, and we\u2019ve tolerated him because of that. But others have contributed too,\u201d Ogidi said. \u201cHe has gone too far. He\u2019s now pushing the APC\u2019s script.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ogidi further explained that the party has remained calm in order to avoid deepening internal divisions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With the National Executive Committee (NEC), meeting and the convention remaining as the final steps in the party\u2019s internal processes, he noted that Wike may be acting alone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he is starting another crisis, he is on his own.
