{"id":72123,"date":"2025-08-05T14:57:59","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T14:57:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72123"},"modified":"2025-08-05T14:57:59","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T14:57:59","slug":"adc-leader-accuses-el-rufai-of-hijack-plot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/05\/adc-leader-accuses-el-rufai-of-hijack-plot\/","title":{"rendered":"ADC Leader Accuses El-Rufai of Hijack Plot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Kaduna State, Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, has accused former governor Nasir El-Rufai of attempting to hijack the party\u2019s structure.<\/p>\n<p>At a press conference in Kaduna, Mustapha alleged that El-Rufai, who is not a registered member of ADC, is forging \u201csubversive alliances\u201d and engaging in \u201cillegitimate political manoeuvres\u201d to destabilise the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKaduna ADC will not be a tool in the hands of any individual, nor will we bow to interests that seek to undermine our collective vision,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, El-Rufai is working with former Social Democratic Party (SDP) associates and other politicians to form a faction within the ADC and use it as his personal political platform ahead of future elections.<\/p>\n<p>Mustapha warned that such moves threaten the unity and democratic values of the ADC.<\/p>\n<p>He maintained that while the party welcomes all Nigerians who share its ideals, it \u201cwill not tolerate the destructive tendencies of the old parties that have stalled Nigeria\u2019s progress\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Reaffirming loyalty to the party\u2019s new national chairman, Senator David Mark, Mustapha vowed the ADC would remain a progressive alternative to the ruling APC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge El-Rufai to respect our democratic principles and halt all disruptive actions,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>He reiterated the ADC\u2019s commitment to building a just, democratic, and prosperous Nigeria.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Omoniyi David A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Kaduna State, Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, has accused former governor Nasir El-Rufai of attempting to hijack the party\u2019s structure.
