{"id":72034,"date":"2025-08-05T05:22:41","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T05:22:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=72034"},"modified":"2025-08-05T05:22:41","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T05:22:41","slug":"abuja-man-recovers-stolen-car-three-years-after-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/05\/abuja-man-recovers-stolen-car-three-years-after-theft\/","title":{"rendered":"Abuja Man Recovers Stolen Car Three Years After Theft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An Abuja resident, Best Osamuyi, has recovered his Toyota vehicle nearly three years after it was stolen from a hospital premises in Wuse 2, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with journalists, Osamuyi recalled that the car was taken in June 2022 while his wife was admitted for delivery.<\/p>\n<p>He said he had spent the night at the hospital, but by morning, the car had vanished.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was stolen right in front of the hospital. There was a CCTV camera, but it couldn\u2019t capture the incident clearly. I reported it to the Utako Police Division and eventually gave up hope,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>However, Osamuyi was recently contacted by the Niger State Traffic Management Agency (NISTMA), who informed him that someone had brought the car to their Suleja zonal office for annual documentation.<\/p>\n<p>His contact details, still tied to the vehicle in their system, raised a red flag.<\/p>\n<p>The Zonal Commander of NISTMA in Suleja, Zakari Abubakar Saka, confirmed that the vehicle was intercepted at a checkpoint.<\/p>\n<p>After running the plate through their system, officials found it had been listed as stolen.<\/p>\n<p>Saka said the matter was immediately reported to the Suleja Police Division, which took over the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The car was eventually returned to the Utako Police Division in Abuja, where Osamuyi reclaimed it.<\/p>\n<p>The individual found in possession of the vehicle, along with a car dealer believed to have sold it, was reportedly released on bail.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are now working to locate another individual who originally took the vehicle to the Suleja car lot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu An Abuja resident, Best Osamuyi, has recovered his Toyota vehicle nearly three years after it was stolen from a hospital premises in Wuse 2, Abuja.
