{"id":71999,"date":"2025-08-04T15:36:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-04T15:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=71999"},"modified":"2025-08-04T15:36:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T15:36:12","slug":"ex-soldiers-protest-in-abuja-over-unpaid-entitlements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/08\/04\/ex-soldiers-protest-in-abuja-over-unpaid-entitlements\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Soldiers Protest in Abuja Over Unpaid Entitlements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Anifowoshe Oladipupo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A group of Nigerian Army veterans staged a peaceful protest on Friday at the Federal Ministry of Finance headquarters in Abuja, demanding immediate payment of their outstanding entitlements.<\/p>\n<p>The ex-servicemen, who voluntarily disengaged from service in late 2023 and officially retired on July 1, 2024, carried placards and banners outlining their grievances.<\/p>\n<p>Their demands include full payment of gratuities, Salary Deductions Allowance (SDA), based on the new minimum wage, outstanding housing scheme contributions, and their packing allowance.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to journalists, one of the protesters described the delay as a betrayal of trust after years of loyal service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have fulfilled our part by serving this country faithfully.
