Their father, the Chief Imam, was also reportedly shot in the incident.

FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed that officers responded to what she described as a “civil unrest incident” tied to a land disagreement.

She stated that Divisional Police Officers from Byazin and Kubwa divisions were swiftly mobilised to restore calm, and that arrests were made while investigations continue.

Adeh denied that police were responsible for the violence, insisting that the dispute was purely communal and not instigated by the police.

She also quoted FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, who condemned attacks on officers during the operation and warned that such acts would not be tolerated.

However, residents have pushed back on the police account.
