Outpatient services were shut, and patients turned away in major cities like Abuja, Lagos, Bayelsa, and Kano.<\/p>\n<p>The strike followed the expiration of a 15-day ultimatum issued by the union. Initial negotiations collapsed due to the absence of Health Minister Prof. Ali Pate at a key meeting, prompting the union to insist on written, not verbal, commitments.<\/p>\n<p>However, on August 1, Prof. Pate met behind closed doors with union leaders and government officials to resolve the dispute.
