The initiative, aimed at enhancing air operations and maritime security particularly within the Gulf of Guinea corridor was made possible through land donated by the state government.<\/p>\n<p>Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, the Chief of the Air Staff, made the announcement during a courtesy visit to Governor Umo Eno in Uyo, the state capital. According to a statement issued by NAF\u2019s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the new base will significantly boost the Air Force\u2019s regional capabilities and contribute to national security objectives.<\/p>\n<p>Air Marshal Abubakar praised the state\u2019s support, describing the land donation as a significant investment in Nigeria\u2019s security architecture. He emphasized that the base would not only enhance military readiness but also serve as a catalyst for commercial growth, foreign investment, and tourism in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis development will help secure lives and property, reinforce investor confidence, and position Akwa Ibom as a hub for both safety and economic opportunity,\u201d Abubakar stated.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Eno, in response, acknowledged the growing strategic importance of Akwa Ibom within Nigeria\u2019s broader security framework.
