{"id":71819,"date":"2025-07-31T14:09:53","date_gmt":"2025-07-31T14:09:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=71819"},"modified":"2025-07-31T14:09:53","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T14:09:53","slug":"dino-melaye-dumps-pdp-over-leadership-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/31\/dino-melaye-dumps-pdp-over-leadership-failure\/","title":{"rendered":"Dino Melaye Dumps PDP Over Leadership Failure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samuel Adeola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party\u2019s failure to provide credible leadership and good governance.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter dated July 4, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ward 1, Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu LGA of Kogi State, Melaye said, \u201cI hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party at all levels of involvement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He blamed the PDP for lacking the strength and vision to rescue Nigeria from deep-rooted political problems, stating the party no longer aligns with his conscience. \u201cThis decision has become imperative due to the lack of potency and capacity by the party to deliver the Nigerian people from the prevailing political cankerworms that have eaten deeply into the fabric of our dear nation,\u201d the letter read in part.<\/p>\n<p>Melaye, who was the PDP\u2019s governorship candidate in Kogi\u2019s 2023 election, noted that after deep reflection, he could no longer support the party\u2019s direction.
