{"id":71636,"date":"2025-07-29T11:04:23","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T11:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=71636"},"modified":"2025-07-29T11:04:23","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T11:04:23","slug":"prof-ikyo-celebrates-decade-of-service-at-cefter-wife-marks-5-years-at-benue-tv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/29\/prof-ikyo-celebrates-decade-of-service-at-cefter-wife-marks-5-years-at-benue-tv\/","title":{"rendered":"Prof. Ikyo Celebrates Decade of Service at CEFTER, Wife Marks 5 Years at Benue TV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Bridget Tikyaa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prof. Barns Achakpa Ikyo and his wife, Dr. Patience Achakpa Ikyo, returned in thanksgiving to God on recently, during a special service held at NKST Ugbema, Katsina-Ala LGA, Benue State, to mark their service milestones &#8211; 10 years at CEFTER and 5 years at Benue Television, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The event, themed \u201cTestament of Service,\u201d was held in gratitude for what the couple described as God&#8217;s abundant mercy and favour in their lives and careers.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the thanksgiving, Prof. Ikyo, a respected academic and the founding Director of the Centre for Food Technology and Research (CEFTER), said, \u201cI\u2019m happy because I built CEFTER. I was given a responsibility to plan and develop, and we\u2019ve grown from one room to a massive complex with 22 offices, 10 classrooms, one auditorium, and six factories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He revealed that over 1,000 graduates have been trained at the Centre, including international students, earning global recognition and attracting over $5 million in new grants to continue its impact.<\/p>\n<p>His wife, Dr. Patience Achakpa Ikyo, Director General of Benue Television, described the success of putting the station on air as Benue\u2019s greatest media achievement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor 20 years, Benue tried to have a functioning TV station. It finally happened five years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Despite poor funding, limited staff, and inadequate equipment, we overcame the odds. I thank Governor Hyacinth Alia for giving me the opportunity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The thanksgiving coincided with the 20th anniversary of the NKST Ugbema church.<\/p>\n<p>The couple, along with friends, associates, government officials, and traditional rulers, contributed millions of naira toward the church\u2019s development.<\/p>\n<p>Notable dignitaries in attendance included the Tor Jemgbagh; Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Denen Aondoakaa; BIRS Chairman, Hon. Joseph Kwahgba; MD\/CEO of Benue Geo-Mining Company Ltd, Dr. Erdoo Mongol-Aga; BIRS Secretary Hon. Ushahemba Dekaa; BIPC Secretary Hon. Terna Ioryoosu; and other government appointees.<\/p>\n<p>Academics from CEFTER, the Mass Communications and Physics Departments of MOAU, staff of Benue TV, clergy, and alumni of Mkar Old Students Association also graced the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>In his sermon, Rev.
