The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated two critical committees aimed at tackling entrenched irregularities in the sale of government houses and bringing order to the designation and titling of park plots across Abuja.\u00a0<\/span> This decisive action comes amid mounting concerns over widespread land allocation improprieties and inconsistent documentation within the nation’s capital.<\/p>\n

Chijioke Nwankwoeze<\/span><\/b>, Director of Land Administration, disclosed that the committee on the sale of government houses was established following the discovery of numerous infractions.\u00a0<\/span> These irregularities include <\/span>deviations from approved mandates, improper verification of beneficiaries, delayed payments, and significant coordination lapses<\/span><\/b> among relevant FCTA departments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Similarly, a second committee has been constituted to address issues surrounding the proper designation and titling of park plots and adjoining land parcels. The objective is to introduce clarity, transparency, and order into the management of green spaces and other land uses within the city, preventing illegal encroachments and misuse.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yakasai Badaru<\/span><\/b>, Assistant Director of Information and Customer Service at FCT Land Administration, further explained that the housing committee will meticulously verify all past allocations, ensure proper documentation, and confirm that beneficiaries met the necessary criteria.\u00a0<\/span> The park plot committee, on its part, will work to formalize the status of public green areas and prevent unauthorized takeovers or development.<\/p>\n

Both committees have been furnished with clear terms of reference and specific deadlines to complete their assignments. Their establishment aligns directly with the FCTA\u2019s ongoing land reforms and forms an integral part of <\/span>President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’<\/span><\/b>.<\/span> This overarching vision seeks to sanitize land administration, boost government revenue, and restore public confidence in governance mechanisms.<\/p>\n

Minister Wike has emphatically stated that these reforms are backed by strong political will and represent his administration\u2019s unwavering commitment to restoring integrity and accountability in all land dealings within the Federal Capital Territory.<\/p>\n

The Abuja administration firmly believes that by addressing these long-standing challenges head-on, it can ensure fairness, transparency, and legal certainty in the management of land and public property for the benefit of all residents.<\/p>\n
