{"id":71520,"date":"2025-07-28T09:05:40","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T09:05:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=71520"},"modified":"2025-07-28T09:05:40","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T09:05:40","slug":"sokoto-govt-unveils-30-new-buses-launches-e-ticketing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/28\/sokoto-govt-unveils-30-new-buses-launches-e-ticketing\/","title":{"rendered":"Sokoto Govt Unveils 30 New Buses, Launches E-Ticketing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Sokoto State Government has added 30 new mass transit buses to its fleet and launched a digital e-ticketing platform to modernise public transport and boost accountability.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Governor Idris Muhammed Gobir, who handed the buses to the Commissioner for Transportation, Bala Kokani, said the vehicles were earlier withheld pending the completion of the e-ticketing system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the e-ticketing now fully operational, passengers can book and pay online, ending long queues at terminals,\u201d he said, adding that the initiative will ease the transport burden caused by fuel subsidy removal and ensure transparency in daily operations.<\/p>\n<p>Gobir urged strict supervision, regular maintenance, and cleanliness of the buses, stressing that \u201cthese buses were purchased with taxpayers\u2019 money and must be protected as public assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kokani thanked Governor Ahmed Aliyu for sustained investment in the sector, describing the development as \u201ca milestone in efforts to modernise public mobility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new additions bring to 70 the number of buses procured by the Ahmed Aliyu-led administration, expected to reduce congestion and improve efficiency in Sokoto\u2019s transport system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Omoniyi David The Sokoto State Government has added 30 new mass transit buses to its fleet and launched a digital e-ticketing platform to modernise public transport and boost accountability.
