The session, themed \u201cDriving Change from Within: Reinforcing Integrity, Accountability, and Performance,\u201d brought together commanding officers from across the country to reassess internal operations and chart a new course for the agency.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Corps Marshal, internal reports have revealed significant challenges in enforcement operations stemming from patrol misconduct, poor command oversight, absenteeism, and rising cases of incivility toward motorists. He warned that these behaviors are undermining the Corps\u2019 mandate and eroding public trust.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese issues have created deep concerns among Nigerians, who expect us to uphold the highest standards of service and professionalism,\u201d Mohammed said. \u201cAs we meet for this critical strategy session, our conversations must be focused on finding sustainable solutions to reposition the Corps for greater accountability and excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He stressed the importance of aligning the agency\u2019s mission with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which aims to enhance citizens\u2019 welfare and ensure safer highways nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed also called for stronger leadership across commands, urging officers to enforce discipline, follow the chain of command, and actively address the ethical decline within the Corps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must confront the culture of compromise head-on and restore the integrity of our operations. Absenteeism, apathy, and duty abandonment must be addressed firmly, while exemplary performance and accountability should be rewarded,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>He further urged commanding officers to identify shifts in staff behavior, apply necessary disciplinary actions, and adapt strategies to improve operational efficiency even with limited resources.
