{"id":71195,"date":"2025-07-22T10:07:52","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T10:07:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=71195"},"modified":"2025-07-22T10:07:52","modified_gmt":"2025-07-22T10:07:52","slug":"tinubu-demands-africa-led-energy-market-fair-pricing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/22\/tinubu-demands-africa-led-energy-market-fair-pricing\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu Demands Africa-Led Energy Market, Fair Pricing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Bola Tinubu has called for Africa to take charge of its energy resources by creating transparent, Africa-led market benchmarks that reflect the continent\u2019s economic realities and secure fair value for its commodities.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking ahead of the Global Commodity Insights Conference on West African Refined Fuel Markets, set to hold this week in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized regional collaboration in developing an integrated energy market that benefits all African nations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfrica can no longer remain a price taker for its resources,\u201d Tinubu said in a post on his official X handle. \u201cIt is time to establish credible, transparent benchmarks that reflect our realities and protect our economies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The conference is organized by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority in partnership with S&amp;P Global Insights. It will convene energy leaders, regulators, policy experts, and global stakeholders to discuss pricing mechanisms, regulatory frameworks, and investment in Africa\u2019s oil and gas sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu cited Nigeria\u2019s ongoing reforms in refining, regulation, data transparency, and trade as part of efforts to lead regional energy cooperation and economic self-determination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough this strategic platform, we are creating a transparent, Africa-led reference market rooted in collaboration, regulatory alignment, and economic self-determination,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed the importance of managing the entire energy value chain\u2014production, pricing, trade, and investment\u2014on Africa\u2019s terms, to ensure future generations benefit from the continent\u2019s natural wealth.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day conference will also address issues of energy security, market stability, and sustainable development in the midstream and downstream sectors across Africa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata President Bola Tinubu has called for Africa to take charge of its energy resources by creating transparent, Africa-led market benchmarks that reflect the continent\u2019s economic realities and secure fair value for its commodities.
