{"id":71116,"date":"2025-07-21T12:32:25","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T12:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=71116"},"modified":"2025-07-21T12:42:59","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T12:42:59","slug":"naset-urges-ekiti-govt-to-create-disability-commission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/21\/naset-urges-ekiti-govt-to-create-disability-commission\/","title":{"rendered":"Create Disability Commission, NASET Urges Ekiti Govt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The President National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET), Dr. Cathrine Atteng, has made a clarion call to Ekiti State Government to set up a special commission for persons with disabilities and domesticate the National Disability Law signed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Atteng, speaking at NASET\u2019s 36th Annual Conference themed \u201cTransformative Solutions and Inclusive Education for Learners with Disabilities\u201d, said the commission, alongside rehabilitation centres in the state\u2019s three senatorial districts, would unlock leadership potential and promote self-reliance among persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>She praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for prioritising special needs education through infrastructure investments.
