{"id":71033,"date":"2025-07-19T18:07:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-19T18:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=71033"},"modified":"2025-07-19T18:07:00","modified_gmt":"2025-07-19T18:07:00","slug":"ondo-varsity-murder-key-suspect-dies-in-police-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/19\/ondo-varsity-murder-key-suspect-dies-in-police-custody\/","title":{"rendered":"Ondo Varsity Murder: Key Suspect Dies in Police Custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Femi Oladele, also known as Tallex, a prime suspect in the abduction and murder of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, has died in police custody, the Ondo State Police Command confirmed on Saturday, July 19, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Oladele, reportedly the landlord of one of the victims, was arrested alongside two others after police linked them to the disappearance of 200-level students Andrel Okah (History and International Studies) and John Abba (Economics).<\/p>\n<p>The students had been missing for three weeks before their classmates reported the case, prompting a police investigation.<\/p>\n<p>During interrogation, one suspect allegedly confessed that the victims were murdered and their bodies dumped in different locations in Ekiti State.<\/p>\n<p>Police later recovered Okah\u2019s body and deposited it in a morgue, while the search for Abba\u2019s remains continues.<\/p>\n<p>Oladele reportedly fell ill while in custody and was transferred to a hospital, where he died.<\/p>\n<p>Police spokesperson SP Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed he had been receiving medical care since his arrest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSadly, he passed away early Friday,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Ayanlade assured the public that the investigation remains active and that all involved will be prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p>The case has sparked outrage and grief in the university community as calls for justice grow louder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Adenike Lawal &nbsp; Femi Oladele, also known as Tallex, a prime suspect in the abduction and murder of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, has died in police custody, the Ondo State Police Command confirmed on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
