But infrastructure alone is not enough, we must also tackle the shortage of qualified personnel,\u201d Fasawe stated.<\/p>\n<p>She acknowledged the challenge of brain drain but noted that efforts are ongoing to improve working conditions and incentives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn 2025, we\u2019ve onboarded over 1,000 new health workers. Some now earn double their previous salaries. For the first time, uniform allowances were paid to doctors,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, the administration has made record investments in the health sector, with detailed budgeting for infrastructure, staff welfare, and contingencies.<\/p>\n<p>Fasawe praised President Bola Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda for driving reforms, adding that road upgrades are also improving access to healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>She commended FCT doctors for their cooperation and resilience, noting that a previous strike was resolved within three days.<\/p>\n<p>Despite challenges in local council-run primary healthcare centers, including a recent three-month strike, essential services like immunization continued, with the FCT recording 101% coverage in the latest campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Fasawe expressed optimism that more Nigerian-trained doctors abroad are considering returning, saying, \u201cWe\u2019re beginning to see positive shifts.
