{"id":70828,"date":"2025-07-17T12:31:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T12:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=70828"},"modified":"2025-07-17T12:31:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T12:31:07","slug":"bandits-kill-police-officer-vigilante-in-abuja-border-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/17\/bandits-kill-police-officer-vigilante-in-abuja-border-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Bandits Kill Police Officer, Vigilante in Abuja Border Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Suspected kidnappers have killed a police inspector and a vigilante in Zhibi, a community near Dei-Dei but located in Tafa LGA of Niger State.<\/p>\n<p>Inspector Joshua John, formerly of the 45 Police Mobile Force, and local vigilante member Joshua Garba were shot after confronting the assailants, who arrived in a Sienna vehicle around 9 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said John, known for volunteering in community patrols, was warned by bandits after previously foiling an attack.<\/p>\n<p>He was shot dead at the scene, while Garba died later at Kubwa General Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Both men have since been buried.
