{"id":70640,"date":"2025-07-15T18:17:18","date_gmt":"2025-07-15T18:17:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=70640"},"modified":"2025-07-15T18:17:18","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T18:17:18","slug":"wike-may-turn-against-you-too-abati-warns-tinubu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/15\/wike-may-turn-against-you-too-abati-warns-tinubu\/","title":{"rendered":"Wike May Turn Against You Too, Abati Warns Tinubu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Former presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be wary of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, warning that Wike\u2019s history of turning against political benefactors may eventually extend to the president himself.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Arise TV\u2019s The Morning Show on Tuesday, Abati described Wike as \u201crude and disrespectful,\u201d accusing him of insulting those who helped shape his political career.<\/p>\n<p>Abati\u2019s remarks followed Wike\u2019s Monday media chat, where the minister dismissed hunger-related comments by former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as \u201cpolitically motivated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wike argued that Amaechi, after holding power for over two decades, could not understand the realities of hunger.<\/p>\n<p>Abati, however, said Wike\u2019s behavior revealed a serious character flaw.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen he was LGA chairman during Amaechi\u2019s second term, it was Amaechi who helped him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He later became Amaechi\u2019s Chief of Staff and was nominated Minister of State for Education through him. Yet today, he insults him,\u201d Abati said.<\/p>\n<p>He also recalled how Wike publicly insulted former Governor Peter Odili, despite Odili\u2019s support for Wike\u2019s governorship bid, and how Wike once referred to Chief Olabode George as a \u201cground rent debtor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no name he has not called Peter Odili and his wife. Who will Nyesom Wike not insult?\u201d Abati asked.<\/p>\n<p>He further warned that President Tinubu could be Wike\u2019s next target, citing Wike\u2019s recent statement regarding the alleged plan to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State.<\/p>\n<p>Wike had said he would have advised the president differently if consulted earlier.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is already a signal. President Tinubu should beware.
