Abuja residents have expressed mixed reactions to the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at a London clinic after a prolonged illness.<\/p>\n

While many mourned his death as a national loss, others reflected on his leadership style and legacy.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Abuja CityJournal, several residents described Buhari as a man of integrity and discipline, even as they acknowledged the complexities of his time in office.<\/p>\n

Mr. Silas, a civil servant, said he was deeply shocked by the news, recalling Buhari\u2019s impact from his military leadership to his civilian presidency.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a man of unquestionable integrity,\u201d he said. \u201cNot everyone understood him, but those of us who followed him knew his character. I remember what he did as PTF chairman, it impacted my village in Ankpa, Kogi State. I believe God will grant him eternal rest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Hanatu Dikko, a resident of Kari, said she first learned of Buhari\u2019s death online.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was like the final confirmation of what had been rumoured so many times,\u201d she said. \u201cHe had proven character, but Nigerians won\u2019t forget the man he handed power to someone many feel has made life even harder. I pray God has mercy on his soul.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mohammed Saliu, from Gwarinpa, described Buhari as \u201ca gifted leader\u201d whose influence reached beyond Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can hardly find someone with his level of discipline. I hope national leaders will name landmark projects after him to preserve his legacy,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Similarly, contractor Tosin Adewale praised Buhari\u2019s frugality.<\/p>\n

\u201cLike every human, he had flaws, but his Spartan lifestyle stood out. He embodied integrity. May God grant him eternal peace,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
