The Katsina State Government has declared Monday, July 14, 2025, a public holiday in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London at the age of 83.<\/p>\n
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Garba Faskari.<\/p>\n
The state said the holiday would allow citizens, especially in Buhari\u2019s home state, to mourn and reflect on his legacy.<\/p>\n
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described Buhari as a patriotic elder statesman and symbol of democratic integrity who dedicated his life to national service.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe holiday is to allow citizens to grieve, pray for the late leader, and join the rest of the country in paying tribute to his memory,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
Governor Radda extended condolences to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina, and all Nigerians, praying for Allah\u2019s mercy and eternal rest for the late leader.<\/p>\n
Buhari served as Nigeria\u2019s president from 2015 to 2023. Further details on his burial arrangements are expected in the coming days.<\/p>\n

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has praised the All Progressives Congress (APC), for its clean sweep in the just-concluded local government elections, calling it a reflection of public confidence in the party\u2019s grassroots-driven policies.<\/p>\n
Official results show APC won all 57 chairmanship seats and 375 out of 376 councillorship positions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis result speaks volumes about the trust our people have in our vision and leadership style,\u201d Sanwo-Olu said in a statement on Sunday.<\/p>\n
He congratulated the newly elected officials and urged them to embrace servant leadership and deliver inclusive, transparent, and impactful governance.<\/p>\n
To defeated aspirants, Sanwo-Olu encouraged continued loyalty to the party, stressing that unity is key to sustaining APC\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n
The governor also commended LASIEC for conducting a peaceful and credible poll and thanked security agencies for ensuring safety during the process.<\/p>\n
