Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate redeployment of security personnel, including the Camp Commandant, who were on duty at the Government House in Benin City on July 11, 2025.<\/p>\n
The directive follows a controversial incident in which journalists and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), were denied access to the Government House during a celebration of the governor\u2019s Supreme Court victory.<\/p>\n
The affected individuals had earlier welcomed the governor at the airport and joined his motorcade, only to be locked out of the venue based on an alleged \u201corder from above.\u201d<\/p>\n
Governor Okpebholo described the development as unacceptable and contrary to his leadership values, which prioritize openness, inclusivity, and respect for all stakeholders.<\/p>\n
He said the exclusion of invited guests and loyal supporters was unauthorized and inconsistent with the celebratory spirit of the event.<\/p>\n
He has set up an investigative committee to identify all those involved in the incident, warning that anyone found culpable will face disciplinary action.<\/p>\n
According to the governor, his administration will not tolerate acts that seek to embarrass or alienate those who stood by him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis decision did not originate from me, nor does it reflect my values. I will never knowingly authorize any action that disrespects our supporters or members of the press,\u201d Okpebholo said. \u201cAs a governor elected by the people, I remain committed to openness, inclusion, and respect for every stakeholder.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reaffirming his dedication to unity and transparency, the governor assured party members, journalists, and all supporters that they remain integral to his vision of rebuilding and repositioning Edo State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
