The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the death of three officers, including an Inspector, during a gun duel with suspected bandits along the Zogirma-Tilli road in Bunza Local Government Area.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued on Saturday, July 12, 2025, the Command\u2019s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the attack occurred around 7 p.m. on Friday following intelligence that armed bandits were spotted in a nearby forest, allegedly planning to abduct travelers.<\/p>\n
Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer of Zogirma led a tactical team supported by operatives from the No. 36 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Birnin Kebbi to confront the threat.<\/p>\n
The officers engaged the armed suspects in a fierce gun battle. While several of the assailants were reportedly neutralized and others fled with injuries, three officers were fatally shot.<\/p>\n
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the bravery and sacrifice of the fallen officers and extended condolences to their families.<\/p>\n
He assured the public of the Command\u2019s ongoing efforts to secure lives and property across the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Command will not relent in its duty to protect Kebbi residents,\u201d he said, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.<\/p>\n
