However, he emphasized that Nigeria is not in a position to comply with such a request.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister also dismissed claims linking recent U.S. trade tariffs to Nigeria\u2019s involvement with the BRICS economic bloc.<\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump\u2019s administration had imposed a 10% tariff on certain Nigerian exports, sparking speculation about political retaliation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue of tariffs may not necessarily have anything to do with our participation in BRICS,\u201d Tuggar said, declining to provide further details on the motivations behind the U.S. trade action.<\/p>\n<p>The developments come amid increasing global diplomatic tensions and shifting alliances, with Nigeria maintaining a neutral stance while prioritizing its national interests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Emmanuel Ibeh The Federal Government of Nigeria has rejected pressure from the United States to accept Venezuelan deportees, citing both logistical and diplomatic concerns.
