{"id":70272,"date":"2025-07-11T11:41:20","date_gmt":"2025-07-11T11:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=70272"},"modified":"2025-07-11T11:41:20","modified_gmt":"2025-07-11T11:41:20","slug":"inec-to-launch-online-portal-for-new-political-party-registration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/11\/inec-to-launch-online-portal-for-new-political-party-registration\/","title":{"rendered":"INEC to Launch Online Portal for New Political Party Registration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samuel Adeola<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced plans to launch an online portal to streamline the registration process for associations seeking political party status in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued on Thursday, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, said the initiative aims to make registration faster and more efficient.<\/p>\n<p>The new portal, part of the Commission\u2019s Party Financial Reporting and Auditing System (PFRAS), will replace the current manual application process.<\/p>\n<p>Olumekun revealed that INEC received seven new applications last week, bringing the total number of requests to 129.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Commission is introducing a political party registration portal to make the process faster and seamless,\u201d he said, noting that final testing of the system will be completed within a week.<\/p>\n<p>Olumekun added that detailed guidelines will soon be released for associations that meet the criteria to advance to the next stage of registration through the new platform.<\/p>\n<p>He also disclosed that the updated list of applicant associations has been published on INEC\u2019s website and other official platforms for public awareness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Samuel Adeola The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has announced plans to launch an online portal to streamline the registration process for associations seeking political party status in Nigeria.
