{"id":70217,"date":"2025-07-10T12:18:36","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T12:18:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=70217"},"modified":"2025-07-10T12:18:36","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T12:18:36","slug":"nursing-council-moves-to-shut-illegal-schools-arrest-fake-practitioners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/10\/nursing-council-moves-to-shut-illegal-schools-arrest-fake-practitioners\/","title":{"rendered":"Nursing Council Moves to Shut Illegal Schools, Arrest Fake Practitioners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), has launched a nationwide crackdown on illegal training institutions and unlicensed practitioners.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in Minna, Registrar Alhaji Ndagi Alhassan said the Council, backed by 21 zonal offices and local monitoring committees, is working with state Health Commissioners to shut down rogue schools and arrest quacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur Legal Unit prosecutes offenders across states, and we collaborate closely with the ICPC and Police,\u201d he stated, noting that a nurse now serves as a Commissioner of Police to fast-track enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>The Council is also revising nursing curricula in partnership with the NUC and NBTE to raise clinical training standards.<\/p>\n<p>A new X-ray Council has been established and is being equipped.<\/p>\n<p>Alhassan reaffirmed the Council\u2019s commitment to protecting public health and maintaining professional integrity within the nursing sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), has launched a nationwide crackdown on illegal training institutions and unlicensed practitioners.
