{"id":69519,"date":"2025-07-02T14:52:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-02T14:52:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=69519"},"modified":"2025-07-02T14:52:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T14:52:11","slug":"gombe-ranks-4th-in-national-digital-tax-assessment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/07\/02\/gombe-ranks-4th-in-national-digital-tax-assessment\/","title":{"rendered":"Gombe Ranks 4th in National Digital Tax Assessment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Anifowoshe Oladipupo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gombe State has emerged fourth in Nigeria\u2019s latest national assessment of digital maturity in tax administration, reaffirming its reputation as one of the country\u2019s most reform-driven subnational governments.<\/p>\n<p>The ranking was announced at a high-level Validation Workshop on Digital Public Infrastructure and Intelligence Revenue Authority Index Tools, organized by the Nigeria Governors\u2019 Forum in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, Gombe scored 80.6%, earning top ratings across key evaluation areas, including taxpayer onboarding, integration with national ID and payment systems, compliance automation, data security, and staff digital proficiency.<\/p>\n<p>Other top-performing states include Bayelsa, Borno, Kano, and Delta, all of which surpassed 80%.<\/p>\n<p>Representing Gombe at the event, Executive Chairman of the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS), Aisha Adamu, attributed the achievement to the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.<\/p>\n<p>She noted that GIRS has fully automated tax processes, improved service delivery, blocked leakages, and enhanced voluntary compliance, resulting in steady growth in internally generated revenue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis milestone reflects His Excellency\u2019s commitment to innovation and excellence in governance,\u201d Adamu said.<\/p>\n<p>She also praised GIRS staff and taxpayers for their cooperation, emphasizing that the recognition is a call to further strengthen digital and transparent tax systems in the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Anifowoshe Oladipupo Gombe State has emerged fourth in Nigeria\u2019s latest national assessment of digital maturity in tax administration, reaffirming its reputation as one of the country\u2019s most reform-driven subnational governments.
