In a move to uphold royal authority and discipline, the Ojora of Ijora and Iganmu Kingdom, Oba AbdulFatai Oyegbemi, has deposed six traditional chiefs for attending a Labour Party campaign flag-off without his knowledge or consent.<\/p>\n
The chiefs, all high-ranking members of the monarch\u2019s council, were said to have participated in the political rally in Apapa ahead of the upcoming local government elections, allegedly misrepresenting the palace in the process.<\/p>\n
Those dethroned include Chief Taiwo Hassan (Bale of Oke Ira), Chief Saliu Biliamin (Bale of Alafia Dodoro), Chief Lateef Ojora (Bale of Alaba Oro), Chief Idris Ojora (Bale of Abule Kere), Chief Sule Balogun (Balogun of Abule Kere), and Chief Hakeem Oseni (Bale of Mosafejo Amukoko).<\/p>\n
At an emergency palace meeting, Oba Oyegbemi described the act as a gross breach of royal protocol, stressing that traditional leaders must remain politically neutral and loyal to the throne.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis measure became necessary to ensure order and coherence within the royal institution,\u201d a palace statement noted.<\/p>\n
