Ahmadu Jaha (APC\u2013Borno), said the panel\u2019s mandate includes assessing the effectiveness, safety, and long-term sustainability of the CNG programme.<\/p>\n<p>Jaha stressed the need for equity in the distribution of CNG conversion centres, emphasizing that facilities must be fairly spread across all six geopolitical zones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe committee is committed to doing everything within its powers to ensure a balanced and just spread of CNG centres across the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that the panel would engage relevant ministries, regulatory bodies, oil and gas companies, and other stakeholders to ensure the programme aligns with international standards and best practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will critically examine the existing legal and regulatory frameworks guiding the implementation of the CNG initiative and propose necessary legislative interventions to the House,\u201d Jaha added.<\/p>\n<p>He urged committee members to adhere strictly to the terms of reference as outlined in the House\u2019s votes and proceedings in order to develop a focused and effective work plan.<\/p>\n<p>It will be recalled that in May 2025, the House adopted a motion titled, \u201cCall to Establish More Compressed Natural Gas Conversion Centres across Nigeria,\u201d which urged the Federal Government to guarantee inclusive and equitable access to CNG infrastructure nationwide.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu &nbsp; The House of Representatives has inaugurated an ad-hoc committee to investigate the Federal Government\u2019s implementation strategy for the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), policy across the country.
