{"id":69103,"date":"2025-06-26T10:32:30","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T10:32:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=69103"},"modified":"2025-06-26T10:32:30","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T10:32:30","slug":"police-raid-drug-den-arrest-six-suspects-in-anambra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/26\/police-raid-drug-den-arrest-six-suspects-in-anambra\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Raid Drug Den, Arrest Six Suspects in Anambra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Anambra State Police Command has arrested six suspects and recovered a large quantity of hard drugs during a raid on a drug den in Oko community, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>He said the operation followed observations by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, that drug abuse is a major driver of criminal activities in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Ikenga noted that the commissioner has ordered a comprehensive crackdown on drug-related crimes in Oko and its environs.<\/p>\n<p>The statement read in part:<br \/>\n\u201cConsequently, operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, in the early hours of June 25, 2025, raided a drug den in Oko, arrested six suspects, and recovered a large quantity of various hard substances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The suspects were identified as Joseph Chukwura, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Ifeanyi Agbanari, Igwe Chineche, Mmadufor Chinecherem, Chibueze Chukwumankpam, and Mmadubom Uchenna; all males aged between 24 and 35.<\/p>\n<p>Ikenga stated that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to provide information, particularly concerning recent criminal incidents in the Oko area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe command believes that this operation may help to curb the rising rate of criminal activities and expose more criminal networks in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Further developments will be communicated,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata &nbsp; The Anambra State Police Command has arrested six suspects and recovered a large quantity of hard drugs during a raid on a drug den in Oko community, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.
