{"id":69059,"date":"2025-06-26T05:46:17","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T05:46:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=69059"},"modified":"2025-06-26T05:46:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T05:46:17","slug":"tension-in-bwari-as-apc-primaries-turn-deadly-over-delegate-controversy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/26\/tension-in-bwari-as-apc-primaries-turn-deadly-over-delegate-controversy\/","title":{"rendered":"Tension in Bwari as APC Primaries Turn Deadly Over Delegate Controversy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>By Oso Abidemi\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Tension gripped Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday following violent clashes during the All Progressives Congress (APC), council primaries, leaving one person feared dead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The violence reportedly stemmed from widespread anger over a disputed delegate list allegedly imposed by the party\u2019s national leadership.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Eyewitnesses said chaos erupted when aspirants and their supporters protested the use of a list they claimed was manipulated and not reflective of the authentic delegates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">A disturbing video circulating on social media, obtained by Sahara Reporters, showed a lifeless body being hurriedly placed into a black vehicle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In the background, a voice could be heard saying, \u201cQuickly, put him inside the car,\u201d as panic spread across the venue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Sources within the party blamed APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, for forwarding the controversial list used during the primary election.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The list was allegedly compiled and submitted by the APC Local Council Chairman in Bwari, sparking outrage among aspirants and accredited delegates who felt sidelined.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The situation escalated when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), was said to have accepted the contested list, further fueling suspicions of collusion between the party\u2019s leadership and electoral authorities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cAspirants and genuine delegates unanimously rejected the list. The National Chairman and the local party leadership are responsible for this mess, and now a life has been lost,\u201d a party insider told reporters under anonymity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In a video statement, the APC Council Chairman accused some members of accepting bribes to cause disruption. He urged them to reconsider their actions and stop trading the party\u2019s unity for personal gain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When contacted for comment, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said, \u201cI am currently not in Abuja at the moment.
