{"id":69008,"date":"2025-06-25T12:20:26","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T12:20:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=69008"},"modified":"2025-06-25T12:20:26","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T12:20:26","slug":"kebbi-govt-mulls-death-penalty-for-bandit-informants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/25\/kebbi-govt-mulls-death-penalty-for-bandit-informants\/","title":{"rendered":"Kebbi Govt Mulls Death Penalty for Bandit Informants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kebbi State Governor, Nasiru Idris, says his administration is considering a review of existing laws to impose the death penalty or life imprisonment on informants aiding bandits.<\/p>\n<p>He described informants as deadly elements worsening insecurity.<\/p>\n<p>Idris made the announcement during condolence visits to Tadurga and Kyebu communities in Zuru and Danko\/Wasagu LGAs, following recent bandit attacks that claimed 30 lives.<\/p>\n<p>He assured residents that his government remains committed to tackling insecurity.<\/p>\n<p>He revealed plans to establish a military base in Zuru Emirate and confirmed the deployment of Armoured Personnel Carriers and security equipment from Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The governor appealed to residents not to politicize security matters and disclosed that 80 Hilux vehicles, 1,500 motorcycles, and increased allowances have been provided to support security personnel and vigilantes.<\/p>\n<p>Traditional rulers in the area, including the Emir of Zuru, Gen.
