{"id":68895,"date":"2025-06-24T09:22:10","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T09:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=68895"},"modified":"2025-06-24T09:22:41","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T09:22:41","slug":"15th-international-widows-day-raef-empowers-widows-with-relief-material-business-tips","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/24\/15th-international-widows-day-raef-empowers-widows-with-relief-material-business-tips\/","title":{"rendered":"15th International Widows Day: RAEF Empowers Widows with Relief Materials, Business Tips"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Ade Iyamoye<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Rock of Ages Empowerment Foundation (RAEF), marked the 15th edition of International Widows Day with a major outreach programme that combined humanitarian relief and practical economic empowerment for widows across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).<\/p>\n<p>Held at the foundation\u2019s permanent site in Pyakasa Community, Galadimawa, Abuja, the event was themed \u201cUplifting Widows: Dignity, Inclusion, and Economic Strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It brought together hundreds of widows from more than 15 zones across the FCT, including Masaka, Kabusa, Gbese, Suleja, Kuje, Garki, and Nyanya.<\/p>\n<p>The celebration, which featured distribution of food items, clothing, and essential supplies, aimed to cushion the economic hardship widows face while equipping them with tools to build self-sustaining livelihoods.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of the Programme Director, Mrs. Rita I.G. Newman, Brother Benedict described the event as a reminder that widows are not forgotten.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that the Rock of Ages Foundation is committed to supporting them physically, emotionally, and spiritually.<\/p>\n<p>In a seminar session titled \u201cGrowing Wealth from Little Resources,\u201d motivational speaker Ms. Ngozi urged the widows to explore small-scale business opportunities. \u201cStart with what you have, however little. With focus and faith, you can grow something meaningful,\u201d she encouraged.<\/p>\n<p>Evangelist Ezeigbo Ignatius Newman, President and Founder of RAEF and General Overseer of Mountain Top Prayer Global Assembly, delivered the keynote address.<\/p>\n<p>He shared how the legacy of his late mother, who cared for widows, inspired him to start the foundation in 2009; six years before the United Nations formally recognized June 23 as International Widows Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is more than a charity. It\u2019s a mission to restore hope and dignity to widows. God is your husband, and through this foundation, He is meeting your needs,\u201d he told the cheering crowd.<\/p>\n<p>The event also celebrated high-performing zones. Gbese Zone was awarded Most Efficient, Kabusa Zone took home the Most Punctual award, and Uke Zone was named the Most Striving.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the relief packages, the programme included a free medical outreach, music, and emotional testimonies from widows who have been empowered through RAEF\u2019s previous initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>One beneficiary said: \u201cRAEF lifted me when I had nothing. Today, I feed my children through the small business I started with their help.
