{"id":68860,"date":"2025-06-24T05:42:59","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T05:42:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=68860"},"modified":"2025-06-24T05:42:59","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T05:42:59","slug":"fg-dismisses-us-security-alert-assures-abuja-remains-safe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/24\/fg-dismisses-us-security-alert-assures-abuja-remains-safe\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Dismisses US Security Alert, Assures Abuja Remains Safe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government has dismissed the recent security advisory issued by the United States Embassy, reaffirming that Nigeria\u2019s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, remains safe and secure.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Mission had warned its citizens to avoid non-essential visits to military and government facilities in Abuja, citing unspecified global developments and heightened security concerns.<\/p>\n<p>It also urged U.S. citizens to avoid large gatherings, remain vigilant in public areas, and familiarize themselves with emergency protocols.<\/p>\n<p>In response, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the advisory as precautionary and not reflective of the true security situation in the FCT.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile foreign missions have a responsibility to protect their citizens, there is no concrete intelligence suggesting a threat to Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The advisory seems driven more by global tensions than any domestic issue,\u201d the minister said in a statement on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Idris reiterated the government\u2019s confidence in Nigeria\u2019s security architecture, noting that law enforcement agencies have maintained a proactive posture in addressing threats across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur security forces continue to operate efficiently.
