Electricity has been fully restored to Nigeria\u2019s North-East following a prolonged blackout, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), completed the integration of the new 330\/132kV Bauchi Transmission Substation into the national grid.<\/p>\n
In a statement on Sunday, TCN\u2019s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the substation was energized via the Jos-Bauchi-Gombe transmission corridor, restoring bulk power supply to the region\u2019s six states.<\/p>\n
The reconnection was completed at about 4:45 p.m. on June 19.<\/p>\n
The outage stemmed from a scheduled shutdown to facilitate the energizing of the newly built Bauchi facility, one of the largest in the North-East.<\/p>\n
Mbah warned that ongoing vandalism of transmission infrastructure remains a serious threat to power stability.<\/p>\n
She described 2024 and 2025 as especially challenging due to frequent attacks on towers and lines.<\/p>\n
With a network of over 16,000 km of transmission lines, 57 major substations, and more than 41,000 towers, TCN maintains the backbone of Nigeria\u2019s electricity grid, currently capable of wheeling 8,700 megawatts.<\/p>\n
The company urged local communities to help protect national power infrastructure, stressing that sustained electricity supply requires collective responsibility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
