{"id":68781,"date":"2025-06-23T09:32:04","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T09:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=68781"},"modified":"2025-06-23T09:32:04","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T09:32:04","slug":"wamakko-denies-2027-vice-presidential-ambition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/23\/wamakko-denies-2027-vice-presidential-ambition\/","title":{"rendered":"Wamakko Denies 2027 Vice Presidential Ambition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Senator Aliyu Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has dismissed reports linking him to a 2027 vice-presidential ambition, describing them as false and politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Abdallah el-Kurebe, and made available to newsmen on Sunday, the former Sokoto State governor said he has never expressed interest, publicly or privately, in contesting for the office of vice president or any other political position ahead of 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The rebuttal was issued in response to a statement by Kebbe Local Government Chairman, Abdullahi Yerima, and published in a newspaper, suggesting Wamakko\u2019s alleged ambition.<\/p>\n<p>Wamakko condemned the report as baseless and criticised the media for not verifying the claim.<\/p>\n<p>He also accused Yerima of deliberately misleading the public and called for a retraction and public apology.<\/p>\n<p>The statement stressed that Wamakko remains committed to serving the people of Sokoto State with integrity and has no interest in being dragged into political speculation over Vice President Kashim Shettima\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenator Wamakko remains focused on responsible leadership and will not be drawn into opportunistic narratives driven by selfish motives,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata &nbsp; Senator Aliyu Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has dismissed reports linking him to a 2027 vice-presidential ambition, describing them as false and politically motivated.
