{"id":68625,"date":"2025-06-20T10:46:43","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T10:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=68625"},"modified":"2025-06-20T10:46:43","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T10:46:43","slug":"hull-city-signs-nigerian-defender-semi-ajayi-on-two-year-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/20\/hull-city-signs-nigerian-defender-semi-ajayi-on-two-year-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Hull City Signs Nigerian Defender Semi Ajayi on Two-Year Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Njoku Chijioke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sky Bet Championship side Hull City has signed Nigerian international Semi Ajayi on a two-year contract.<\/p>\n<p>The 31-year-old defender joins the club as a free agent after leaving West Bromwich Albion at the end of the 2024\/25 season.<\/p>\n<p>Ajayi spent six years at West Brom, making 177 appearances and scoring 13 goals.<\/p>\n<p>He played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League in the 2019\/20 season and became a mainstay in their defense.<\/p>\n<p>A product of Arsenal\u2019s youth academy, Ajayi brings experience, leadership, and physical strength to Hull\u2019s backline.<\/p>\n<p>The deal, which begins on July 1, 2025, includes an option for a further year.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the move, Ajayi said he was drawn by Hull City&#8217;s ambition and is confident in his ability to contribute with his Championship experience and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Fans have welcomed the signing, hopeful that Ajayi will bring much-needed stability to the defense as the club targets a strong campaign.
