In a decisive step to address food inflation and systemic inefficiencies in Nigeria’s supply chain, the 36 state governors have unanimously agreed to dismantle unauthorized roadblocks and eliminate overlapping tax structures nationwide.<\/p>\n

The resolution followed a closed-door session of the Nigeria Governors\u2019 Forum (NGF), which concluded early Thursday morning in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented the communiqu\u00e9 on behalf of the Forum, emphasizing the urgent need to remove obstacles hindering the smooth flow of agricultural goods.<\/p>\n

The statement, signed by NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, highlighted critical issues raised during a briefing led by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.<\/p>\n

He was joined by ministers in charge of Defence, Agriculture, Livestock Development, and Transportation.<\/p>\n

According to the NSA\u2019s presentation, the unchecked spread of road checkpoints, arbitrary levies, and poor infrastructure have become major drivers of the rising cost of food and livestock transport.<\/p>\n

These factors are not only inflating prices but also disrupting supply chains across Nigeria.<\/p>\n

In response, the federal government has constituted a high-level inter-ministerial committee, which has already submitted actionable recommendations for the governors\u2019 endorsement.<\/p>\n

The governors pledged full cooperation in implementing reforms, including harmonizing levies, dismantling illegal toll points, and facilitating unhindered interstate movement of goods.<\/p>\n

While NSA Ribadu did not make public comments after the meeting, sources within the Forum noted that the session was prompted by growing national concern over food insecurity and the need for federal and state collaboration.<\/p>\n
