The delegation had come to present a \u201csave our soul\u201d plea following a brutal attack in Tadurga town, Zuru Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Idris revealed that he has initiated the necessary contacts to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, where he plans to present key proposals aimed at addressing and ultimately eradicating the scourge of armed banditry in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnsuring peace and protecting lives and property is the foremost responsibility of any serious government,\u201d the governor said. \u201cI will do whatever is humanly possible to protect the people, even if it means emptying the state treasury.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He attributed the continued bandit attacks to challenges such as limited security personnel, inadequate modern weapons, a shortage of special military units, and the complex geographical terrain of the state.<\/p>\n<p>According to Governor Idris, these challenges will form part of his appeal to the President.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that Kebbi shares borders with the Republics of Niger and Benin, as well as with Nigerian states like Zamfara, Sokoto, and Niger, which are also heavily impacted by insecurity.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Emir of Zuru lamented the loss of dozens of lives and valuable property in the recent attacks, warning that unless urgent action is taken, major towns in the emirate risk becoming overcrowded with displaced persons.<\/p>\n<p>The Emir praised the governor for the ongoing development projects across the emirate but expressed deep concern over the rising insecurity.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that bandits continue to kill innocent people, steal livestock, and destroy farm produce.<\/p>\n<p>He commended Governor Idris for his commitment to security since assuming office in 2023, highlighting his provision of over 50 Hilux vehicles and 2,000 motorcycles to support the military, Department of State Services, police, civil defense, and vigilante groups, in collaboration with the Defence Headquarters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Huldah Shado &nbsp; In the wake of recent deadly bandit attacks in southern Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris has vowed to deploy substantial state resources to safeguard lives and protect the region\u2019s economic stability.
