{"id":68428,"date":"2025-06-18T13:45:47","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T13:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=68428"},"modified":"2025-06-18T13:45:47","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T13:45:47","slug":"akpabio-hails-tinubu-for-signing-bills-to-establish-new-institutions-in-south-east","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/18\/akpabio-hails-tinubu-for-signing-bills-to-establish-new-institutions-in-south-east\/","title":{"rendered":"Akpabio Hails Tinubu for Signing Bills To Establish New Institutions in South-East"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law the bills establishing three new tertiary institutions in the South-East geopolitical zone.<\/p>\n<p>The newly established institutions include the Federal University, Okigwe in Imo State, and both the Federal College of Education and the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences in Bende, Abia State.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio praised lawmakers in the National Assembly for their commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.<\/p>\n<p>He specifically applauded the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who sponsored two of the bills, as well as the Deputy Whip, Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, and Deputy Minority Whip, Senator Osita Ngwu, for their effective representation and dedication to the wellbeing of their constituents.<\/p>\n<p>He also hailed Senator Patrick Ndubueze, the main sponsor of one of the bills, for his outstanding leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Akpabio noted that the establishment of the institutions would provide access to quality education, foster research, and support healthcare delivery in the South-East, thereby improving educational and health outcomes in the region.<\/p>\n<p>He described the move as a significant step toward national integration and a milestone in addressing the region\u2019s developmental needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI applaud President Tinubu for his inclusive leadership and commitment to the development of the South-East region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The establishment of these institutions will help heal the deep-seated wounds of the past and address longstanding feelings of distrust and marginalisation among the people of the region,\u201d Akpabio said.<\/p>\n<p>He further commended the collaborative efforts of lawmakers in both chambers of the National Assembly in ensuring the bills were passed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI call on the great Ndigbo people to continue to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration and align strategically with President Tinubu for the progress of the region,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Akpabio assured that continued support for the Tinubu-led government would attract more dividends of democracy to the South-East.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law the bills establishing three new tertiary institutions in the South-East geopolitical zone.
