{"id":68412,"date":"2025-06-18T13:27:27","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T13:27:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=68412"},"modified":"2025-06-18T13:27:27","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T13:27:27","slug":"2025-san-nomination-list-lppc-shortlists-72-candidates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/18\/2025-san-nomination-list-lppc-shortlists-72-candidates\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 SAN Nomination List: LPPC Shortlists 72 Candidates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Adenike Lawal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a major development within Nigeria\u2019s legal community, the Legal Practitioners\u2019 Privileges Committee (LPPC), has released the shortlist of candidates for elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), for the year 2025.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 72 legal practitioners, comprising 15 distinguished law professors and 57 seasoned advocates have been selected to proceed to the final interview stage, a critical step in the rigorous screening process.<\/p>\n<p>The shortlist, drawn from over 1,000 applicants nationwide, was announced in a formal notice dated June 17, 2025, and signed by LPPC Secretary Kabir Eniola Akanbi, who also serves as the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>According to the LPPC, candidates were shortlisted in accordance with the Committee\u2019s guidelines, which distinguish between advocates and academics, and are listed in order of seniority at the Bar.<\/p>\n<p>Among the 57 advocates shortlisted are notable names such as Theophilus Esan Kolawole, Ernest Ikeji, Emeka Akabogu, and Adeolu Salako. Others include George Ejie Ukaegbu, Shuaibu Labaran, and Adetunji Oso, alongside several promising legal minds across various jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<p>The academic category features 15 eminent professors of law, including Prof. Violet Aigbokhaevbo, Prof. Nathaniel Inegbedion, Prof. Augustine Agom, and Prof. Osy Ezechukwunyere Nwebo, all recognized for their impactful scholarly and professional contributions to Nigerian jurisprudence.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee also invited public input on the shortlisted candidates.
