Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to the late Gen. Sani Abacha, and his associates, who paid a condolence visit in Minna.<\/p>\n<p>The governor was represented by his deputy, Mr. Yakubu Garba.<\/p>\n<p>Bago confirmed that 207 people had been officially declared dead, while more than 3,000 households were displaced due to the disaster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver 700 persons are still missing, and we are yet to determine their whereabouts. The flooding has caused extensive damage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He further disclosed that 400 houses were affected, with 283 homes and 50 shops completely destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>He described the incident as a national disaster and commended individuals and corporate organisations for their support and donations.<\/p>\n<p>The governor also noted that the state government is collaborating with professional bodies to investigate the root cause of the flood and is awaiting the outcome of their assessment.<\/p>\n<p>According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Al-Mustapha and his delegation earlier visited former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (Rtd), before heading to Government House.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Mustapha, speaking on behalf of the delegation, sympathised with the government and people of Niger State over the tragedy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are here to express our condolences over the tragic flood in Mokwa.
