{"id":68344,"date":"2025-06-18T05:47:32","date_gmt":"2025-06-18T05:47:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=68344"},"modified":"2025-06-18T05:47:32","modified_gmt":"2025-06-18T05:47:32","slug":"tinubu-unveils-abujas-first-24-hour-bus-terminal-vows-to-end-one-chance-crimes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/06\/18\/tinubu-unveils-abujas-first-24-hour-bus-terminal-vows-to-end-one-chance-crimes\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu Unveils Abuja\u2019s First 24-Hour Bus Terminal, Vows to End &#8216;One-Chance&#8217; Crimes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omeiza Ajayi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a major leap toward urban transport reform and citizen safety, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday commissioned Abuja\u2019s first-ever public bus terminal, declaring it a bold step to eliminate chaos, crime, and joblessness in Nigeria\u2019s capital city.<\/p>\n<p>Represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, the President inaugurated the ultramodern terminal located in Mabushi, describing it as a \u201ctransformational milestone\u201d that aligns with his Renewed Hope Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis terminal is more than a transit point; it is a declaration of our resolve to restore order, protect lives, and drive prosperity in Abuja,\u201d Tinubu said. \u201cGone are the days of informal pick-up points that expose commuters to the menace of &#8216;one-chance&#8217; operators. We are putting an end to that era.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The President announced that similar terminals in Kugbo and the Central Business District would follow, with Kugbo\u2019s ready for commissioning next week.<\/p>\n<p>The Mabushi terminal, one of three built by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), is designed to operate 24 hours a day, providing a secure and comfortable space for passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Facilities include restrooms, food courts, relaxation lounges, cinema halls, and other commercial services.<\/p>\n<p>FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who hosted the event, said the terminals are a long-overdue solution to Abuja\u2019s transport woes.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that the infrastructure would drastically reduce crime and traffic congestion by regulating the flow of vehicles and eliminating roadside pickups.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about security and sanity. With these terminals, Abuja commuters can identify their drivers and vehicles before boarding.
